‘ The Inbetweeners’ developers Iain Morris and Damon Beesley are writing a brand-new funny vehicle for Hollywood star Will Arnett.

The British pair worked with Will on their newest series ‘The First Team’, in which he plays American business owner Mark Crane, the chairman of an imaginary Premier League football club.

Throughout the coronavirus lockdown the pair have actually been dealing with fresh ideas and have actually been speaking with the 50- year-old star about creating a project for him.

Speaking to BANG Showbiz, Damon said: “We have really been working on a couple of ideas. We have actually been talking with Will Arnett about things we might do in the future … Will Arnett is a big star and an extremely talented funny actor.”

The writing duo penned the role of Crane particularly for Will after he contacted them to tell them that he was a big fan of ‘The Inbetweeners’.

Damon stated: “We had Will in my mind for that function from the start. Bizarrely, and we didn’t think it at the time, but Will was a fan of the show we made a few years back and dropped us a note to state, ‘I actually like your work people.’ We wound up communicating and setting up a conference when he remained in London and we all simply got on and we sort of deceived into finalizing on to the next thing we did together and this was it. Will, 50, also thrilled the writers’ children and the kids of his co-stars by telephoning the youngsters up and speaking in his Batman voice from ‘The Lego Batman Film’.

Damon shared: “He was a very generous male with his time, he was uproarious on set, he would call people’s kids up and do the Lego Batman voice.”

BBC 2 funny ‘The First string’ follows 3 young professional footballers Mattie (Jake Short), Jack (Jack McMullen) and Benji (Shaquille Ali-Yebuah) and their misadventures on and off the pitch.
