Her cosmetics line made a huge impact in the market when it launched in 2017, receiving particular praise for its inclusive shade ranges and messages of diversity. And it was surely only a matter of time before fans demanded skincare products to help to achieve the pop star’s famously glowing complexion.
Fortunately the wait is finally over. Fenty Skin was unveiled on Wednesday, and is available to buy from fentyskin.com from today.
Anyone expecting a huge line-up may be surprised, however, as the brand is launching with just three products – a cleanser, a toner and an SPF moisturiser. This simplified routine comes after Rihanna found herself overwhelmed by the amount of skincare options available.
“Fenty Skin is everything I wish I had back then,” she says. “I wanted it to feel approachable, easy, and to take the pressure off choosing a routine, so I created one for everyone.”
After her struggles with her own combination skin, Rihanna was adamant that these products should be suitable for everyone – all skin types, all skin tones and all genders. Rapper A$AP Rocky – who the singer was reportedly dating earlier this year – even features in the campaign imagery to encourage men to use them too.
“My skincare journey has been quite complex,” Rihanna tweeted. “Some parts of my face are oily, some are dry, fatigue from travel, plus I have super sensitive skin.”
Uncomplicated skincare for everyone? We’re sold!
While we eagerly wait to see what Fenty Skin comes out with next, here’s what we’ll be buying now…
Total Cleans’r Remove-It-All Cleanser, buy it here for $25 (about £19)
A creamy, gently foaming cleanser containing Barbados cherry, a rich source of vitamin C. It removes make-up and cleans the face in one step, without drying out the skin.
Fat Water Pore-Refining Toner Serum, buy it here for $28 (about £21)
Unlikely an old-fashioned, skin-stripping toner, this contains hyaluronic acid and niacinamide to minimise pores and leave skin looking brighter and feeling comfortably refreshed.
Hydra Vizor Invisible Moisturizer Broad Spectrum SPF 30 Sunscreen, buy it here for $35 (about £27)
Aiming to encourage people to wear SPF every day, this daily shield is invisible on all skin tones, with no flash-back in photos. The glowy finish makes it a perfect base for make-up, and also gets bonus points for being refillable, too (refills cost $30, or about £23).
