WeChat will remain in US app shops up until at least January 2021 after the Ninth District Court of Appeals rejected the United States Government’s effort to have its restriction re-enforced.
United States president Donald Trump issued an executive order banning WeChat on August 6th, mentioning information collecting that “threatens to allow the Chinese Communist Party access to Americans’ personal and proprietary info” as a menace that should be stopped. The executive order prohibited any type of transaction with WeChat, with the impact that providing it in an app shop and even carrying traffic from the app was restricted.
A group called the U.S. WeChat Users Alliance (USWA), which seemingly just likes using WeChat, opposed the Executive Order in court and in late September won an injunction against the ban.
The US federal government appealed.
And late on Monday afternoon, United States time, the Ninth District Court of Appeals popped out a quick order[PDF] that says the injunction preventing the ban can stand.

The reasoning offered by judges Fletcher, Berzon and Bybee was easy: “Appellants [the US government] have actually not demonstrated that they will suffer an impending, irreversible injury during the pendency of this appeal, which is being expedited.”
And with that, the 3 judges purchased the matter to be placed on its calendar of hearings for January 2021.
Court dates for 2021 have actually not been exposed at the time of writing so The Register glanced at sitting days for the court throughout January 2021.
The Democratic Party’s platform states a Biden administration would “require China and other nations cease and desist from performing cyberespionage versus our companies” and a China policy that will “make use of the sources of American strength– the openness of our society, the dynamism of our economy, and the power of our alliances to shape and implement international norms that show our worths.” ®
