Edinson Cavani’s introduction at half-time of Manchester United’s visit to Southampton was delayed for a very bizarre reason.
The Red Devils striker came on a minute after play resumed as he – somewhat surprisingly – had the wrong boots on!
Nevertheless, the Uruguay international had an incredible impact off the bench to help United claw back a 2-0 deficit to seal a 3-2 victory at St Mary’s.
Shortly after the interval, he delivered an inch-perfect pass for Bruno Fernandes to slot home.
Just 15 minutes later his influence continued to show as Alex McCarthy punched a corner clear and Fernandes’ deflected shot back into the box was headed home by the 33-year-old.

The game looked to be heading for a draw going into five minutes of stoppage time but Cavani grabbed his second goal two minutes into it.
Marcus Rashford swung in a brilliant delivery for the former PSG forward to flick a header beyond McCarthy.
There was no time for Southampton to respond, and United celebrated an unlikely three points as they moved to within one point of their opponents.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side climbed to seventh with the victory – but Roy Keane was less than impressed with Cavani’s preparation as he entered the fray.
Keane said: “He was slow getting onto the pitch, with them boots. Just as well he did score because how the guy is not prepared and ready to go on is mind boggling, obviously he didn’t need the boots in the end, he scored with two headers.
“He had a great contribution when he came on, with that quality, hunger and desire.
“People were doubting him, he could turn out to be a huge signing. It was a bit of a gamble, but it’s worked out for them today.”
