MOTORISTS might be driving at speeds of as much as 50 mph on the approach to a roundabout proposed for an Oxfordshire town.
After several casualties at the Vendee Drive roundabout in Bicester, prepares to construct a new one in the town were postponed last month as councillors wanted to make certain the junction was as safe as possible.
It would have 4 arms in total: the eastern and western arms of the A41; the northern arm to serve the future advancement at Wretchwick Green, and the southern arm to provide access to the Graven Hill advancement.
Cherwell District Council’s preparation committee delayed their choice due to the fact that of concerns that a 50 mph speed limitation that Oxfordshire County Council Highways had actually approved for one of the approaches to the roundabout would not be safe.
Councillor Nick Cotter stated in the conference last month: “If this proposition is voted through with a 50 mph limit there will be at the very least, casualties, and at the really worst, fatalities.”.
After a review by the county council, it appears the 50 mph limit will stay.
This will be talked about once again at a preparation committee meeting on Thursday where councillors will choose whether to authorize the strategy.
