A Manchester United icon paid an equally legendary pub a visit ahead of its reopening.
Eric Cantona graced the bar of the Peveril of the Peak after filming an advert at the iconic pub on Thursday.
Although the United hero didn’t have time for a pint, Eric posed up for photos with delighted staff.
The French forward appeared to be suited and booted after filming a new European Football Championship advert.
Nadim Hammad, manager of the Peveril of the Peak, said: “He’d been down here all morning filming.
“He was lovely and really down to earth.
“Nancy the owner brought down some United memorabilia and he signed it all for her.
“Then we got him behind the bar for some pictures. Apparently he used to come in years ago when he was at United.
“He would come down for the table football so he recognised the place.
“It was just nice to have people milling about the pub again. I think we all felt a bit giddy afterwards.”
The Peveril of the Peak is reopening today at 5pm after being closed for months due to the coronavirus pandemic.
It seemed that fans of Cantona and the Pev couldn’t get enough of the pictures.
“One of my favourite pubs and one of my favourite players,” said Brad Powell on Twitter.
While social media user Blind Pew added: “Iconic Red in an iconic boozer.”
