It’s felt like a while since we had a gripping drama on TV-screens – but BBC may just have the answer.
Vigil is set to hit BBC One on Sunday night and it has a star-studded the cast.
The thriller is from the producers of Line Of Duty, The Pembrokeshire Murders, Save Me, and Bodyguard and will run for six episodes.
It centres around Trident nuclear submarine HMS Vigil DCI Aand follows Detective Chief Inspector Amy Silva who has been tasked with investigating the death of a crew member who was found dead on board the submarine.
When the police in Scotland are called in to investigate, the catch is that the UK’s nuclear deterrent must remain unbroken, so the submarine stays on patrol meaning DCI Silva must go aboard to begin an investigation.
Although the death was written off as an accidental overdose, Amy suspects foul play.
But when the crew close ranks in the face of Amy’s questioning, a new threat overshadows her inquiry.
Vigil will air over the bank holiday, starting on Sunday, August 29, before episode two airs on Monday, August 30, at 9pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
The remaining episodes will air each week on Sunday from thereafter.
Gentleman Jack and Doctor Foster star Suranne Jones takes the lead in the Scotland-set thriller as DCI Silva.
Rose Leslie will play DS Kirsten Longacre who is also involved in investigating the death – but on land.
Viewers will likely recognise Rose from Downton Abbey where she played Gwen Dawson or as Ygritte in the HBO fantasy series Game of Thrones.
The 34-year-old actress is also married to GoT co-star Kit Harington, who had played her love interest Jon Snow in the series, and the pair are parents to a son born this year.

Anjli also has also had roles in The Sarah Jane Adventures on CBBC, and ITV drama Wild Bill while Shaun is best known for playing a young Endeavour Morse in the ITV drama series.
And fans will probably recognise Martin Compston as he take on the role of HMS Vigil worker Craig Burke.
The Scottish actor is best known to BBC One audiences as Steve Arnott on Line of Duty and also recently starred alongside Sophie Rundle in the television series The Nest.
Also making up the cast are Paterson Joseph, known for role in the Peep Show, Sex Education’s Connor Swindells, Doctor Foster’s Adam James, and Gary Lewis, who got his international breakthrough in Billy Elliot in 2000.
Vigil is set and was filmed in Scotland.
The submarine was located off the west coast of Scotland while some scenes were also filmed in Glasgow including at the Squinty Bridge, which is a road bridge spanning the River Clyde, Blythswood Square in the city centre and the west end of the city near the River Kelvin.
