The presenter, best known for being one half of TV duo Richard and Judy, has been forced to quit the show just days in after suffering a brief period of illness and needing a hospital visit.
While Richard has assured fans that he’s feeling fine, his check from doctors meant breaking the programme’s strict Covid bubble – leaving him unable to return to the camp.
During his brief time in the show, Richard impressed viewers and his fellow campmates but it wasn’t just his wise cracks and jokes that caught people’s attention.
The TV star also sparked a debate on Twitter after fans noticed his hair looking much more blonde than before the show.
In the past, Richard, 65, was known for his brown, sweeping hairdo but on the show, it looks more of a lighter blonde hue.
Although this could simply be down to getting older or having spent time in the sun over the summer, some fans have come up with their own theory.
“Richard Madeley has a fine head of hair, doesn’t he? Do you think that’s highlights in there?” one user speculates.
Replying to the Tweet, another viewer says; “Definitely highlights.”
“He’s after David’s shampoo endorsement deal,” another jokes.
“Richard Madeley turning up in his top gun style bomber jacket with newly highlighted hair is such a Madeley thing to do. This is going to be TV gold,” a fourth adds.
Another viewer agrees, writing; “Richard has his hair specially highlighted for the show,” while posting laughing emojis.
Highlighted or not, you’ve got to give it to him, Richard’s hair is in seriously good condition and he’s been rocking the same hairstyle for years now – that’s dedication.
Another talking point has been Richard’s facial hair. One fan pointed out a strange issue with his beard during the first episode.
“Anyone noticed Richard suddenly had 3 days of facial hair growth from the taxi to Ant and Dec. He was clean shaven in the car,” they claimed.
On Wednesday 24 November, Richard became the latest celeb to face a trial, where he was tasked with winning meals for the entire camp in a challenge named Castle Kitchen Nightmares.
The TV star had 10 minutes to find 10 stars hidden within the trial, including trying to scoop them up out of rotten fruit and untie them from knotted rope.
Viewers of the show branded the trial ‘ridiculous’ on Twitter as many complained about how difficult it was for Richard to win the stars.
One Tweet said: “The trial shouldn’t be about how many knots you can untie! Ridiculously difficult. One knot is all you need. Make it more doable and give them a chance #ImACeleb #ImACelebrity”.
Richard was later taken into hospital on Thursday 25 November as a precaution after falling ill on set. And although he’s now sadly been forced to pull out of the show, we’re very glad to hear that he’s doing well.
