Mauricio Pochettino made a fan’s dreams come true by signing a Manchester United shirt, talkSPORT has been told.
The Argentine was in town for Paris Saint-Germain’s Champions League clash at Manchester City but the match was played in the shadow of the reports linking Pochettino with the Red Devils job.
talkSPORT understands Pochettino is keen for the position, however, PSG are understood to have blocked Man United’s approach for him.
But he was very approachable to United fans who bumped into him before the match – which PSG lost 2-1 – and even agreed to sign a replica Red Devils home shirt belonging to the fan’s child.
Man United fan Billy told Wednesday night’s Sports Bar: “We met Poch today and my kid had his autograph stuff in the bag and you’ve got to go ‘see if you can get him to sign a Manchester United shirt.’
Sports Bar host Jamie O’Hara said he’d seen that swirling around on Twitter and Billy confirmed that was his child’s shirt.
Billy added: “There was a representative next to him going ‘excuse me, that’s a Manchester shirt, he won’t sign it.’ But Poch goes ‘it’s fine, it’s fine’ and then he signed it bang in the middle.”
Pochettino’s decision to sign the shirt didn’t sit well with Jason Cundy though, who believes it was very bad form of him to do that.
An outraged Cundy said: “Sorry, ‘Mopo’ signed a Man United shirt, tonight?
“I tell you what you don’t do, when you’re in Manchester and you’re linked with another club but managing PSG, you do NOT sign that shirt.”
Perhaps Poch is practicing for the future…
