From singing hymns while in the nude to doing animal impressions in the buff, Channel 4’s Naked Attraction is known for producing some pretty iconic moments.

But away from its shock factor, the dating show is known for providing some lasting love stories too – in fact one couple who met on the show in 2017 are still going strong.

And after series nine of the hit show kick started earlier this month, the hunt is on for a new bunch of singletons for its tenth series.

So, if you’ve been unlucky in love in the past and are looking for an alternative to Tinder or Bumble, here’s how you can apply to the show…

How do you apply?

Anyone wanting to take the plunge needs to fill out a short application form for their chance to appear naked in front of the nation.

From there, applicants will be shortlisted and anyone who reaches the shortlist will have to audition – naked, of course – in front of a team from Channel 4.

Again, securing an audition doesn’t automatically mean that you have secured a place on the show as execs must select the best bunch of auditionees.

As reported by TellyMix, a former contestant told iNews about his experience on the show.

Speaking to iNews, he said: “I went down to Newcastle, sat down and chatted with a camerawoman and a male interviewee.”

He added: “Then they said ‘can you take your clothes off now and pitch yourself to us?’ It lasted about 45 minutes. It wasn’t so awkward, they made me feel at ease.”

Anyone who applies can withdraw from the show right until the episode is broadcast

According to reports, contestants arrive at the show at 7am and wrap up filming at 3pm.

As the former contestant said: “You were sweating because there was a light shining on you, but there was a draft so it was a bit cold, so there was quite a lot of shaking going on by the boys.”

He also claimed that contestants don’t get paid for their time if they get airtime.

However, anyone who is left in the studio and doesn’t make it on TV is paid.

“You don’t get paid if you’re on the show,” he claimed.

“If you’re on standby and you don’t appear on the show then you get paid £75 for being in the room.”

Does the show have any aftercare?

Producers do various background, social media and psychological checks

In 2019, Mike Cotton, deputy creative director at Studio Lambert said that the producers do background, social media and psychological checks when finding contestants.

“I pride myself on the fact that everyone who takes part in the show comes out having a positive experience,” he explained.

He also said that contestants are allowed to pull out right until the show is broadcast.

“We tell them they may be 20 years old now but in 20 years’ time, a screen grab of the episode can crop up, and are they fully aware of that. They then talk to a psychologist who makes sure they are [mentally] robust and have considered all options.

“In studio, we also have reserve contestants that they know about, so they can change their minds at any point. Because we do all these things, we haven’t had any issues further down the line.”
